In the quest for truth, some people make claims that are obviously false.  This is damaging to the truth movement, because many people, upon discovering the erroneousness of some arguments, will conclude, without further consideration, that the rest of the arguments in a given study are also erroneous.

One example of this can be found in Aaron Russo's film, "From Freedom to Fascism".  This film supports the position that there is "no law" requiring U.S. citizens to pay a federal income tax, and the position that the U.S. income tax is unconstitutional.  Both of these points are clearly false.  See, for example, this site: http://docs.law.gwu.edu/facweb/jsiegel/Personal/taxes/F2F.htm
